The POWEROUTAGES.US outage tracker shows 66,902 customers without power across the U.S. right now, updated within the last 8 minutes. Texas has the highest count with 22,724 outages, followed by California with 13,321 and New York with 5,838. Most states report less than 1% of customers affected, with utility crews actively working on restoration efforts.
In Texas, Harris County alone accounts for 2,669 outages primarily from CenterPoint Energy, while Montgomery County reports 19,060 outages. California’s outages are spread across multiple counties, with San Bernardino at 5,192 and Los Angeles at 1,464. The national outage rate remains low at roughly 0.05% of 140 million tracked customers.
Recent severe weather has contributed to larger regional outages earlier in 2026. An August derecho in Gary, Indiana impacted NIPSCO service, and a bow echo storm in Memphis, Tennessee caused widespread MLGW outages costing an estimated $18 million. Preparedness groups have highlighted these events as examples of cascading infrastructure risk.
