Long Arm Casts

Delta Dry waterproof long arm cast kits use a two-piece system with water-resistant stockinette and padding, allowing patients to swim and shower during recovery. They are applied by trained clinicians over forearm, elbow, or distal humerus fractures and include fiberglass tape sized for pediatric through adult patients. Standard plaster long arm casts also cover the wrist to above the bent elbow and use stockinet and padding but are not waterproof.

Newer high-tech alternatives like Cast 21 use a mesh sleeve with liquid resin that hardens in minutes, remains flexible and waterproof, and can be removed without a saw. These aim to replace traditional bulky plaster for greater comfort and hygiene. Nursing education materials also reference long arm casts as a common immobilization option for upper limb injuries.
