WOOD TV8@woodtv Scammers are pretending to be sheriff’s deputies and demanding payment on the phone, saying it’s the only way you’ll stay out of jail. “The things that I noticed about the call that were red flags in retrospect were things like he wanted me to maintain contact — I wasn’t supposed to hang up the phone and I wasn’t supposed to talk to anybody else because I would be held potentially criminally liable for talking to outside parties. And he didn’t want me looking up anything on the internet,” one woman who nearly fell for the scam said. Link in bio.

@terryallancole The sheriffs office is also nothing but scammers. Both can be true. Do not trust them.
