The Washington Post@washingtonpost Senators grilled Heidi Overton, President Trump’s pick to lead the Food and Drug Administration, during a hearing. They asked whether she would stand up to the president if asked to do something she did not agree with as she seeks to helm the sweeping agency charged with overseeing the safety of drugs, vaccines, tobacco products, the bulk of the food supply and more. Overton has played a role in major health policy announcements, including praising Trump’s executive order to reduce the number of recommended childhood vaccines as “historic.” In her opening statement, Overton said she would focus on increasing access to affordable treatments and said that Trump’s direction to her is to “go fast” to remove “slow and prohibitive” requirements for cutting-edge therapies. @xsolarysx These people don't actually think Trump is all knowing and all seeing. They just know that he's very insecure and they might lose their job if they say something he doesn't like. They speak out of fear, not loyalty.
