Damson Idris jumped at the chance to lead the ‘Snowfall’ series after connecting with director John Singleton. He was broke at the time and felt ready to jump from British theater into American television. Playing Franklin gave him the chance to bring vulnerability to a sharp, ambitious young kid. He also loved building tight bonds with the cast while fully living inside the character.
