Jonas Piontek - Storm Chaser@jonaspiontek Wait for the timelapse! A wicked LP Supercell produces absolute fireworks as it rises into the darkening sky. All day the atmospheric cap held convection at a minimum, but once the sun went down, an electrified Low Precipitation Supercell began to blow up into the night, shooting lightning all around, while it slurped up massive amounts of energy that had been cooking up beneath the cap all day. This storm didn‘t last long but looked all the more impressive, reaching heights over 20km (60kf) and even sparking up rare PIXIEs, a phenomenon that falls into the same category as Red Sprites. For all I know we might have been the first ones to actually document this from below a storm (how cool is that?!). #supercell #timelapse #lightning #sunset #stormchaser
