@tiner911 It is! I live on the river aire and canal. Now the coal barges have stopped going from the pit to the power station, this green leaf has taken over almost half way over in parts. From knottingley to selby. In a matter of 5 years.

@jon_catchment_science Please do not pull floating pennywort (Hydrocotyle ranunculoides) by hand without biosecurity containment. Even a tiny fragment broken off beneath the surface can drift downstream and establish a new infestation, meaning uncontained pulling frequently accelerates its spread. Effective physical removal requires downstream containment netting, strict dewatering and disposal protocol, and specialist equipment. For sightings, the best action for the public is to photograph and log the location (W3W) and notify your local Rivers Trust and/or catchment partnership, so coordinated management teams can respond.

@jonnnnnty Yeah, I’ve spent hours / days / weeks. Working on the river Colne (Uxbridge) trying to remove this stuff, it’s killed the river, hardly a fish left, it was once a fine river with Carp, chub, barbel etc. great for kids to be introduced to fishing. Utterly criminal that it’s left to fish associations to spend their weekends clearing this up, just another failure of our government’s to look after the countryside… let’s be honest they want us all to stay inside and watch whatever nonsense they put on our TV’s etc. I’d sack the lot and start again
