Are you training both the lateral and medial heads of your tricep, or always doing standard pressdowns and leaving the medial head undertrained? Seth Feroce uses the reverse grip pressdown specifically because of what it does to the medial head, a part of the tricep that standard pressdowns never fully isolate. The reverse grip position changes the line of pull and forces both the lateral and medial heads to work directly. Seth says you can feel the medial head get hammered the moment you switch the grip. Arnold and Kai Green both used and emphasised this movement, which makes it one of the oldest and most proven tricep variations available. Body position is personal preference. Seth prefers to come across the body and lean into the press for a better stretch and squeeze at the bottom. Others stay upright and press straight down. Both work. What matters is finding the position where you feel the medial and lateral heads working most directly. The Cue: Reverse grip on the cable bar, palms facing up throughout Come across the body or press straight down depending on what you feel more directly Seth prefers leaning in across the body for a better stretch and final squeeze Also works with a rope pressed across the body if that feels more natural The medial head should be noticeably more loaded than on a standard grip Old school movement. Still one of the best tricep exercises available for anyone who only uses standard pressdowns. Do you include reverse grip pressdowns in your arm training or always use a standard or neutral grip?
