He played college basketball for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets before being selected by the New York Knicks as the 17th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. Known for his perimeter defense, athleticism, and high-energy play, Shumpert had a strong rookie campaign that earned him an NBA All-Rookie First Team selection. He quickly established himself as a key defensive specialist and fan favorite during his time in New York.In 2015, Shumpert was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he played an integral role alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving as a rotation guard. He helped lead the Cavaliers to four consecutive NBA Finals appearances, highlighted by winning the NBA championship in 2016 after a historic comeback against the Golden State Warriors.
