Old School Music and Movies@old_school_music_and_movies Kevin Spencer, the talented keyboardist, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer, and founding member of Dynasty, who passed away on September 17, 2026, following a long battle with cancer. Kevin Spencer made an invaluable contribution to the legendary SOLAR Records sound. His musical influence can be heard throughout unforgettable Dynasty classics such as “I Don’t Want to Be a Freak (But I Can’t Help Myself),” “I’ve Just Begun to Love You,” and “Love in the Fast Lane,” as well as music connected to the extraordinary SOLAR family and its golden era. Alongside artists and groups including Dynasty, Shalamar, The Whispers, Lakeside, and Carrie Lucas, Kevin helped build a musical legacy that defined R&B, soul, funk, disco, and post-disco music throughout the late 1970s and 1980s. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Kevin Spencer’s family, friends, fans, and everyone in the SOLAR Records family. His earthly suffering is over, but the music and history he helped create will live forever.
