@gurlmelannie 🧩I grieved the entire car ride home after the diagnosis although I knew my son had autism before this appointment. You listen to them tell you everything your child can’t do and presumably will never be able to do and it’s extremely devastating but I use that moment as a place starter for everything. I wanted my son to achieve and he’s been doing so well.

@forevernelzz Damn this made me cry! She’s so right about grieving the expectations that you’d already mentally set in place for your child to just hoping & praying that they can do the minimal basic functions. I love my daughter deeply but as a mom it does take a toll. 🧩💙🙏🏽

@krowden84 Yes you do have to grieve the child you lost. You have to deal with it and I finally did. Autism is not for the weak and it’s okay to get support.
