Reel by Alison Hall
Have you ever recorded or written something for your own time capsule? Did you ever revisit it? Was it hard? I recorded a voice note just over two years ago as a sort of verbal journal entry time capsule and I only recently worked up the courage to listen to it. In last week’s substack, I give it a listen in a longer video. Comment and I’ll send you a link to the full video on my substack. As our attention spans dwindle and we race toward the fastest catchiest content, I’m loving leaning into long form each week in this way... actually letting my thoughts flow with effort and breathing room. What a concept. Join me there and let me know what you think 😘💕

@triciaanderson5267 I still remember 1 week before I was diagnosed I told my husband “this is the best I’ve felt in so many years “. I felt like I cursed myself by saying that out loud as I went through my treatment and as I continue my hormone inhibitor. I still don’t feel the same but I’m so grateful to be alive to enjoy every next adventure. Thank you for always sharing just when I need it!!😉🤗

@mycancerchic Omh I wish I did this. I was just talking to @sadiahaquezapp_dx2022 at dinner about how sometimes we become desensitized to our own story! And I want to remember how it felt

@itsjojomaisie This is very relatable ❤️different context but I feel the same way about myself having a "before I knew my daughter had a heart condition" and after. It's so weird to look back at videos and pictures of the months and weeks before and think wow look how care free we were we had no idea what was coming and that we were about to find out our baby needed open heart surgery. To me there's a "before me" and an "after me"

@trustedtravelgirl Oh, this hits so hard so close to home. Thank you for using your platform to talk about your cancer diagnosis and helping to carry me through the hurdles during my own. We now know, the universe had bigger plans for us. You have been such an incredible advocate, and as I start to finally settle into my new normal, I hope to do the same 🤍

@echutchins I’ve been thinking about my before BC self so much lately(dxnd may 25, cancer free today!). I was diagnosed 6 months after I got married and have had the hardest time thinking about how full of excitement and joy I was in the months leading up to my diagnosis. Thank you for sharing- it’s good to not feel alone💕

@glennpelloat I remember the song on the radio back in 1987 when I learned my first cousin was killed at work, the song was Heaven is a place on earth 😢
@trjones20080 Your the best! You have been such an inspiration to me. Since we went thru the same thing at the same time. I don’t remember the old me.
