Businesses like Kauai Fresh Fish, Java Kai and The Musubi Truck were forced to layoff workers. Businesses hope to find a balance in welcoming visitors while respecting the island’s recovery. Lawmakers will meet with the governor and other leaders on Kauai Thursday to discuss how much money the island will need to help with its recovery. @tnmrd2022 I mean that’s what happens when this island only like cater to the haoles/tourist and small businesses always say support small businesses but yet it’s so expensive that only tourist can afford it so… 🤷♀️ they had dig their own grave if you ask me!!

@curtiswongmd Unfortunately the militant locals poison the well from@which they drink from by tanking the economy. Go back to that yahoo who told everyone to stay away from Maui when only Lahaina was devastated. There is more to an island and the economy. And if tourists do show up, treat them well@as they should treat you

@iamkendyce The State needs to inject some economic development into the island. Counties and State government is still not working to diversify the economy beyond tourism and services for tourists, billionaire land owners, and military. Time to think outside the box. How about the State gives grants to Hawaii families from other islands to come visit and spend the money on Kauaʻi. How about new tourists are required to help clean up. Maybe a moratorium on businesses that don't keep the profits within the state. ???
@brandikianajo Heartbreaking. I wouldnʻt be surprised if the government doesn’t step into really help our local businesses. That’s what happened during covid. They offered enough for a feeding frenzy to say they “support”, but watched them crumble and get replaced by big box corporations and national franchise restaurants. 🤬
