ABBA- S.O.S- 1975📍 SOS" by ABBA is the only hit song in which the title of the song and the name of the artist are both palindromes - they spell the same thing forward and backward. "SOS" is an early ABBA song, released in 1975 on their self-titled third album. It's about a relationship that's falling apart so badly, it's time to send out a distress signal. The members of ABBA were married (Agnetha Fältskog to Björn Ulvaeus, Anni?Frid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson), and in later years inserted their connubial troubles into some of their songs ("The Winner Takes It All," for example), but they were all getting along during this time, so the song is very much in character. ABBA's manager, Stig Anderson, coined the song's title, though the lyrics that he provided were rewritten by Björn Ulvaeus. Globally, "SOS" was a huge hit for ABBA, going to #1 in Australia, Belgium, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa and West Germany. The song influenced some musicians you might not peg as ABBA fans. In a 2009 interview on the Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie show on BBC Radio 2, Pete Townshend of The Who revealed that this is one of his favorite records. He added that he first heard it in an Australian taxi and it acted as a soothing balm at the height of The Who's 1970s stadium-touring mania.
