Have you ever adjusted where your hand sits on the dumbbell during curls, or always held it the same way without knowing it was changing which muscle actually does the work? Grip placement on a dumbbell changes the leverage and the rotational demand of the curl before a single rep begins. Holding the dumbbell in the middle is the default. Sam Sulek presses his palm against the bottom plate of the dumbbell instead, that position opens the hand and naturally leads the movement with the pinky finger. Leading with the pinky enhances forearm supination throughout the curl, which drives more tension into the bicep peak rather than letting the forearm compensate through the movement. Sliding the hand toward the top of the dumbbell does the opposite, it forces the forearm and grip to overcompensate and the bicep loses its role as the primary driver. The bottom plate position keeps the bicep responsible for the entire movement. The Cue: Press the palm against the bottom plate of the dumbbell rather than holding the middle of the handle That position opens the hand and sets up a pinky-led curl naturally Lead the movement with the pinky to enhance supination throughout the rep Supination through the curl drives more tension into the bicep peak The forearm stays in a position where it assists rather than compensates One grip change. Completely different muscle doing the work. Do you ever adjust your hand position on the dumbbell during curls or always hold the handle in the same place? @adamichaelutz This is stupid. First: Your elbow ROM is the same whether the weight is physically higher or lower. There's no change in the actual volume of the lift. Second: You're missing out on a high level of supination stimulus by holding it at the bottom.
@dutchdogg I swear i been doin this thinking i was the only one 😂

@everetthopkins When you choke up on the dumbell it makes it more taxing to turn up at the top. It’s simply harder when you choke up on the dumbell…

@the.shivam.aesthetics Add more weight, hold at top, focus on hammer curls movement not on gripping tighter.🤌
