And just like that, ManUnited exit the competition. 🫡 United started the game like they were about to book their place in the next round of the Carabao Cup, but somehow managed to turn a two-goal lead into a 3–2 defeat. Manchester United looked to be cruising after taking a 2–0 lead, but Brighton & Hove Albion completely turned the game around. Kostoulas pulled one back before half-time, giving the Premier League side a lifeline, and the momentum never really left Brighton after that. Pascal Groß then brought Brighton level before De Cuyper completed the comeback in the 69th minute. From 2–0 down to 3–2 up — Brighton produced a remarkable turnaround at Old Trafford and knocked Manchester United out of the EFL Cup. 🔵⚪ A huge result for Brighton in the EFL Cup, while Manchester United now have plenty of questions to answer after another collapse. Two goals up and still getting eliminated from a domestic cup competition is certainly one way to make a football match unnecessarily stressful.
