The great thing about my job is getting amazing access to art. It was so nice to get a tour of @theredhousealdeburgh with Cheryl (organising), Ella (guiding), and Chris (archives). It was the house of my music hero Benjamin Britten and his work and life partner Peter Pears, who curated the art collection (1,200 works), which includes my new obsession Mary Potter as well as Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant (lovely Poussain inspired work in the archives - ask Chris!), David Hockney, Robert Adams, Hermann Blumenthal, Robert Colquhoun, John Craske (extraordinary embroidery work), the German Expressionist artist Christian Rohlfs and Diana Cumming. It also has a lovely museum about Britten’s work attached and I say to my friends that if you don’t like Britten’s music going into you will like it coming out. A museum made from love. Then fish and chips after in Aldeburgh. Music, art and food. Bliss. @snapemaltings @suffolkmag
