Stephanie | Family Travel UK & Europe@busyfamilyexplorers I had NO idea you could do this underneath Exeter 👀 Exeter’s Underground Passages are the only medieval passages of their kind open to the public in Britain – and you can actually explore them with your kids. But before you add them to your Exeter itinerary, here’s what I’d want to know as a parent: 👧 Children must be 5+ to go underground ⏱️ The underground tour lasts around 25 minutes 👷 You explore as part of a guided tour 😳 Some sections are VERY narrow, low and enclosed 🧠 There’s an interactive heritage centre to explore too 🌧️ It’s a great option to have up your sleeve whatever the weather 🎟️ Pre-booking is recommended – and especially important during school holidays Would I recommend it? YES – particularly for children who love exploring, history or experiences that feel a little bit different. My girls are 8 and 10 and really enjoyed it, but this is one I’d think carefully about if your child dislikes enclosed spaces.
