She appeared unfamiliar with both Eichner and the show, asking whether it was “a TV thing” or “an internet thing.” Billy responded that it was actually both, but the conversation quickly shifted away from the show itself and into a battle of attitude between two strangers who clearly were not interested in backing down. When the woman told Billy, “I don’t like your attitude,” he immediately fired back that he did not like hers either, adding, “I’m on TV.” Her response was even more direct: “Who gives a shit?” As she walked away, Billy delivered the line that ultimately defined the encounter: “Who gives a shit about you, bitch?” The exchange lasted only seconds, but the escalating back-and-forth captured exactly the kind of unpredictable confrontation the series was built around. Years later, Eichner singled the clip out as possibly the most-watched Billy on the Street moment online, saying it had accumulated more than 100 million views across the internet. He also explained that the woman’s reaction was genuine and that participants were asked to sign releases after their interactions, preserving the show’s mix of real New Yorkers, improvised reactions and Eichner’s deliberately confrontational comedy persona.
