@jonheath124 Taxus baccata-once established a quick growing shrub which I have grown as a low hedge too. Ilex crenata doesn't like alkaline soil.

@oh_ho_kat Does green spire actually bush up much? I thought it is very upward and columnar plant? ilex crenata is probably the closest look, not sure if it can tolerate heavy clay soil and rains. Taxus is deadly toxic to cats and human and is very slow growing shrub.

@goteggplease I planted ilex Jenny as a low hedge to replace box and they gave up with the extreme heat even with watering,I wouldn't recommend

@gyleslingwood My 2 euonymus have been attacked by Box Moth Caterpillar. So they not immune. However, if you cut them back hard when infected, they regrow very quickly and look fantastic. So Box Moth Caterpillar does attack Euonymus but wont kill it.
