💸 HOSPITAL BILL HACK EVERY PARENT NEEDS TO KNOW After you have a baby, do NOT just pay the hospital bill as-is. I’ve done this after all 5 of my babies and it has taken THOUSANDS of dollars off our medical bills every single time. Here’s exactly what to do ⬇️ STEP 1: Request an ITEMIZED bill Before paying anything, call the hospital billing department and ask for a fully itemized bill. This forces them to break down every single charge — and yes, errors and inflated line items are VERY common. STEP 2: Review & question charges Look for duplicates, unclear fees, or things you didn’t actually receive. Even questioning a few items can trigger adjustments. STEP 3: Ask for the “PAY IN FULL” discount Once the bill is corrected, ask: 👉 “If I pay this in full today, is there a discount?” Hospitals often offer 10–40% off just for paying upfront — they don’t advertise this, but it exists. 💡 This is NOT income-based 💡 You don’t need financial hardship 💡 You just have to ask I’ve used this exact strategy after five births, and it has saved us thousands that would’ve otherwise gone straight out the door. 📌 Save this before your next hospital stay 📤 Share with an expecting parent (And yes — this works for other medical bills too 😉)

@pieps28 Does this actually work?

@kayleeapayne Hospitals in our area now require you pay either the estimated co-pay up front or a portion of the estimated total before you receive any kind of treatment unless it is considered an emergency. So if I go into labor on my own I’m fine. However, if, out of medical necessity, I need to be induced or have a c-section, I will need to pay up front before I receive care.

@theeconomizer1 If the hospital can easily discount 40% then the bill doesnt mean anything

@sashamotwani So even with your insurance you hahe gotten them to lower what you pay? Because you’re always gonna meet your max out-of-pocket with the hospital stay anyways. I tried a couple times and they wouldn’t give any discount would only do a payment plan if I’m using insurance.
