NEW ZEALAND BILL OF RIGHTS ACT 1990 Section 10: “Every person has the right not to be subjected to medical or scientific experimentation without that person’s consent.” Section 11: “Everyone has the right to refuse to undergo any medical treatment.” These rights protect bodily autonomy, consent and our ability to make decisions about our own bodies. THE NUREMBERG CODE, PRINCIPLE 1 “The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential.” ROME STATUTE, ARTICLE 7 Crimes against humanity carry a very high legal threshold, including specified acts forming part of a widespread or systematic attack against a civilian population. Where evidence proves that threshold has been crossed, justice must follow. Those entrusted with power in Aotearoa must never forget who they serve. The rights and wellbeing of the people must always come before profit, corporations or political careers. Where rights were unlawfully violated, there must be accountability. Where crimes are proven, there must be prosecution and justice. Government should fear the judgment of the people at the ballot box and the judgment of the law, not the other way around. People before profit. Accountability before power. Aotearoa first. Accountability. Transparency. Justice.
