Your story, characters, and decisions stay yours. 2. Higher profit per sale. You keep a much larger share of each book compared to traditional publishing. 3. You control the timeline. Launch when you’re ready instead of waiting for someone else’s schedule. 4. You build a direct relationship with readers. An email list and community become long-term assets you own. 5. You can pivot quickly. New covers, bundles, products, and marketing can be tested without asking for permission. ⸻ ❌ Cons 1. You’re responsible for everything. Writing, art, printing, marketing, customer service, shipping, and fulfillment all fall on you. 2. Upfront costs. Printing, supplies, ads, and software require investment before you see returns. 3. No audience = no sales. A great comic alone isn’t enough. You have to learn how to market it. 4. You have to wear multiple hats. You’re the creator, publisher, and business owner. 5. Growth takes time. Building trust, an audience, and consistent sales is a long-term process. I wouldn’t trade self-publishing for anything. It’s more work but for me, owning my stories and building something that’s truly mine has been worth it. @littlepinkpebble I plan to self publish my comic also. It’s about girls in armor. But I don’t think I’ll sell more than 5 copies haha

@ali.qpco But can't you just hire people to do the marketing, service, shipping and even printing? I know it's not realistic at the start but it should be possible after gaining fame and trust it also gives you more time to focus on drawing. I don't know anything about comics just giving my opinion and thoughts so forgive me if I got something wrong.
