“What if you’re both angry?” I asked. “Shouldn’t you talk it through before bed?” He shook his head. “No.” He’d heard the advice “Never go to bed angry” his whole life. “I never agreed with it.” I looked at him, surprised. He smiled. “Tell me,” he said, “when do people usually have their worst arguments?” I thought about it. Late at night. After work. After the kids are asleep. When they’re both exhausted. He nodded. “Exactly.” Then he said something I’ve never forgotten. “At night, you’re rarely arguing with your spouse.” “You’re arguing with exhaustion, stress, and a brain that’s been making decisions since morning.” He told me there were plenty of nights when he and my grandmother went to bed without solving anything. Not because they didn’t care. Because they knew they weren’t the best versions of themselves. “Most problems look bigger at 11 p.m. than they do at 8 a.m.” Then he laughed. “You’d be amazed how many ‘marriage problems’ disappear after eight hours of sleep and one good breakfast.” I asked if they ever woke up still angry. “Sometimes.” “But we almost always woke up kinder.” Before I left, he said one last thing. “Never let the most tired version of yourself make decisions about the person you love most.” I’ve thought about that ever since. Sometimes the strongest thing a couple can do isn’t solving the argument before bed. It’s refusing to let exhaustion convince them their marriage is the problem.

@rohitjnanwani This may be one of the cleverest ideas I’ve ever heard. I never so much as questioned the theory of “don’t go to sleep angry at each other.” This is a great perspective
@_boladaniel 💯
@paapi_kofi This isn't wrong or right. The biggest twist, make sure, this is a ground rule for both and when one party wants to talk about it, it should be allowed...... It is a very great advise
@roxtako What if one of them die in their sleep… she/him would live with that burden for the rest if their lives … no?
@wrld.of.ttnlns_ This advice is the best for married couple right? Not for situationship couple.
