Leonhart@leonhart STORY TIME! Back in 2012 I graded my 1st Edition Base Set Charizard and it came back a PSA 10. I ended up having to sell it for $2,300 to help pay rent. Fast forward to 2017, I was finally able to afford to buy one but I just couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger on spending that much. Every month I waited the card kept on going up in price until I pulled the trigger and bought one for $18,500 on eBay. In early 2018, I had the illustrator of Charizard, Mitsuhiro Arita, sign the slab contrary to advice telling me it would reduce the value. I didn’t care about that. All I cared about was having the talented Arita sign my card. This would be the first time Arita has signed a PSA 10. Fast forward to 2026, the card is now worth $500,000+ and that’s without the signature. While this is an older cert, it is in fact one of the absolute best conditioned Charizard in the entire world. It is also the only PSA 10 1st Ed Zard signed by Arita from what I know. So who knows what the value really is. That being said, I originally purchased this card because it resembles all of the amazing memories I had playing and collecting Pokemon as a kid and throughout my entire life. It was meant as a purchase to stop me from making more purchases… that didn’t happen. 😂 In any case, it’s a card I’ve had for almost a decade and will likely pass on for generations to come. #pokemon #pokemoncards #pokemontcg

@paulvivs Dang that hit. I had my 1st edition charizard stolen when I was moving cities in 2014. My car was broken into. It was never graded but ive had that weight of losing my favorite card ive ever pulled as a child. Props for finding yours again!

@gatorxknz I just came across what looks like a complete Ancient Mew variant collection on eBay, including the Japanese “Nintedo” error, the corrected “Nintendo” Mew I, and Mew II.
