Over the last few years, l’ve started thinking about health a little more holistically. Not just what we eat. Not just what we clean with. But what we put on our bodies every single day. Our skin is our largest organ. And yet most of us never question the fabrics we’re wearing, sleeping on, wrapping our kids in, or covering our homes with. Polyester pajamas. Microtiber sheets. Synthetic rugs. Fleece blankets. They’re cheap, accessible, and everywhere which is why most of us never think twice. But as I’ve learned more about low-tox living and reducing overall chemical load, I’ve tried to slowly swap what I can for more natural fabrics: cotton, linen, wool, hemp, silk. Not perfectly. Not all at once. And not throwing everything out. Just gradually. Choosing natural fibers for kids’ clothing. Opting for cotton towels. Looking for wool or jute rugs instead of synthetic blends. Paying attention to what’s in our bedding, since we spend hours there every night. This isn’t about fear. It’s about reducing exposure where it’s easy to do so. Healthy living isn’t just about diet. It’s about environment too. Small swaps over time can support your family’s overall health without needing to overhaul your entire life overnight. If you’re on a similar journey toward cleaner living, lower toxin exposure, and being more intentional about what comes into your home, start with one room. One drawer. One category. It doesn’t have to be extreme to make a difference! #lowtoxliving #cleanliving #naturalhome #crunchymom #healthyhome
