This is how rebars are joined on site using mechanical couplers. Instead of overlapping bars with long lap lengths, a threaded coupler connects two reinforcement bars end-to-end, creating a strong and reliable joint. This method saves steel, reduces congestion in reinforcement, and ensures better load transfer compared to traditional lap splicing. Couplers are widely used in columns, shear walls, bridges, and high-rise structures where strength, precision, and space efficiency are critical. Proper alignment, threading, and tightening are essential to achieve full strength performance. Why engineers prefer this method: ✔ Stronger joint performance ✔ Less steel consumption ✔ Faster installation ✔ Cleaner reinforcement layout Video by : @p.karthikparameshwari ⚠️ Disclaimer: This video clip is used under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, which allows “fair use” for purposes such as education, commentary, criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research.
