CLIPS@clips 🐟 Interesting fact: The Cat in the Hat (2003) — Tim Allen was originally cast as the lead role, but he was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with The Santa Clause 2. Mike Myers took over, marking the third film in a row where he starred alongside a song by the band Smash Mouth (following Shrek and Austin Powers). The film’s colorful and surreal world was brought to life by director Bo Welch, who had previously served as a production designer for Tim Burton on Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice. Because the original Dr. Seuss book was so short, the writers had to invent entirely new characters, such as the money-hungry neighbor Lawrence Quinn and the babysitter Mrs. Kwan, to pad the story out to a feature-length runtime.
