Aysha@aysha.sow I bought my house last year as a full-time creative and I’ve gotten sooo many questions on how did I do it? What was the first step? To how do you find a realtor to tour homes with? That’s why I wanted to make my series #Styled&Settled to answer these questions in a fun and creative way! And to also encourage you, if you are thinking of buying a home, whether as a creative or not, to prepare, do your research, talk to people who have recently bought homes or people who you personally know that work in real estate and don’t be intimidated by the process! First step I did was reach out to my friend and real estate agent @sueplattx she gave me allll the guidance and even helped me find a realtor in my city! These are the first steps I took (this could be slightly different for everyone): ✓ get pre-approved by a loan agent (even with freelance income this is possible) ✓ shop around for realtors and see who you like the most and who understands what you want/meet them in person!! ✓ make a non-negotiables list (be very specific, every detail matters) But before all of this I have been: ✓ saving saving saving ✓ building my credit consistently ✓ pay my taxes (obviously lol) they will ask for tax returns for a few years back ✓ shop around for MULTIPLE mortgage lenders, they will all give you their own “rate” figure out who’s best for your budget and needs Don’t let the process intimidate you!! It took me 8 months to close on my home, and I wanted to give up many times, but I would not fold😅more on this in the next video, but basically, do your research, get inspectors (especially if it’s a new construction) and if you see something that looks off, don’t be afraid to speak up to the sellers or sellers agent!
