About Sunsetblvd
Sunset Boulevard is a 22-mile Los Angeles street running from Downtown to the Pacific Coast Highway through Hollywood, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. Known as the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, it is a cultural hub for music, entertainment, and retail with heavy tourist traffic. The corridor has been featured in film, music, and development debates for decades.
The name also refers to the 1950 Billy Wilder film noir Sunset Blvd., starring Gloria Swanson as a faded silent-film star. It remains a landmark in cinema history and was recently revived as a London stage musical directed by Jamie Lloyd, winning multiple Olivier Awards including Best Musical Revival.
Recent activity includes a contentious 9160–9176 Sunset Boulevard development proposal for a five-story building with large digital billboards near Doheny Drive. West Hollywood residents have raised concerns about the 2,807-square-foot screens facing residential neighborhoods.
