About Macleanscollege
Macleans College (macleanscollege), a co-educational state secondary school in Bucklands Beach Auckland, New Zealand, recently promoted its Macademy Awards 2026 preview screening on September 23, 2026. The free event in the Colin Prentice Auditorium allows students and families to view nominated films and vote for an Audience Choice Award. The school has about 2,500 students and is known for strong academic results in both NCEA and Cambridge International Examinations.
The college was established in 1980 and named after the Maclean family, who farmed the land in the 1850s before the area became a school site. Macleans was the first public school in New Zealand to introduce the Whanau House system, dividing students into nine houses named after notable New Zealanders for pastoral care and community support. The structure creates a mini-school environment within the larger campus.
Macleans College offers a wide range of academic and extracurricular programs, including drama, music, yachting, golf, and soccer academies, and hosts international students from multiple countries. The school consistently ranks among top performers in Cambridge exams and has produced numerous Premier Scholarship recipients in NCEA.
