Instagram Notes currently only support built-in color customization and emojis, not custom icon uploads. Users can add color by opening Notes above the profile picture, typing text, then tapping Edit to choose a color before posting. Emojis and symbols are allowed in the text itself as a way to add visual markers.
For true custom icons, Instagram only supports them in Story Highlights and bio text, not Notes. Creators typically design icons in Canva at 1080x1080px and upload them as Highlight covers from the phone gallery. PNG format works best for clean edges in the circular display.
