About Fdny Rescue 2
FDNY Rescue 2 celebrated its 100th anniversary on March 1, 2025, marking a century of specialized rescue operations in Brooklyn. Established in 1925, the elite unit responds to fires, building collapses, and high-angle emergencies across New York City with six members per shift.
Only 400 firefighters have served in the highly decorated company, which has suffered 12 line-of-duty deaths. The unit relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility at 1815 Sterling Place in Ocean Hill, featuring trench rescue and confined space training areas.
