About Emmanuelmacron
Emmanuel Macron addressed the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22, 2026, warning against a return to the “law of the jungle” and calling for stronger multilateral cooperation. He urged action on Ukraine, Gaza, climate change, and artificial intelligence while advocating for UN Security Council reform and consistent application of international law. Macron also highlighted rising sea levels as an existential threat during the Rising Nations Leaders Award ceremony ahead of the session.
During his UNGA speech, Macron criticized the humanitarian situation in Gaza as a “spectacle that shames us all” and condemned settler violence in the West Bank, reaffirming support for a two-state solution. He met with U.S. President Donald Trump before the assembly and said they agreed to work on energy security and a moratorium on strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure. Macron’s remarks focused on preventing further erosion of global norms amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.
Macron is currently serving his second presidential term, which is scheduled to end in May 2027 under French constitutional limits. He has stated he does not intend to remain in politics after his presidency, though he has previously suggested he does not view it as a final farewell. His UNGA 2026 appearances also included discussions with global economists on energy markets and geopolitical impacts on oil and gas prices.
