About Betaabvalley
Betaab Valley, also called Hajan Valley, is a scenic spot located 15 km from Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. It sits at 7,851 ft in the Himalayas between the Pir Panjal and Zanskar ranges, along the Lidder River. The valley was originally known as Hagan Valley but was renamed after the 1983 Bollywood film Betaab starring Sunny Deol was shot there to boost tourism.
The valley is known for lush green meadows, snow-clad mountains, and dense pine forests that attract nature lovers and photographers. Visitors can enjoy trekking, horse riding, picnics by the Lidder River, and camping, with the area also serving as a base camp for the Amarnath Yatra. June to September is considered the best time to visit due to pleasant weather, though the site can get crowded during peak season.
A recent travel video posted on Independence Day 2025 by Sayyed Iqbal Abdullah captured the valley’s riverside path and pine forest views, reflecting its calm and scenic atmosphere. Facilities remain basic with a nominal entry fee, and most travelers stay in Pahalgam for easier access while exploring nearby spots like Aru Valley and Chandanwari.
