About Arilasso
`Ari Lasso`, the former frontman of Indonesian rock band `Dewa 19`, recently released his new single ‘Malaikat itu Nyata’, translated as ‘Angels Are Real’. The heartfelt rock track marks his first solo release since 2019 and features an emotional chorus about finding love as a real-life angel. The music video shows a couple reuniting after recalling happier memories together.
Lasso began his career with `Dewa 19` from 1991 to 1999, performing on their first four albums before launching a solo career in 2002 with the album ‘Bintang’. He has released six studio albums including ‘Keabadian Cinta’ and ‘Akhirnya’, and won the Anugerah Musik Indonesia for Best Male Solo Artist in 2008. His popular songs include ‘Ku Akan Setia’, ‘Terbang’, and collaborations with Melly Goeslaw and Bunga Citra Lestari.
Beyond music, Lasso is known for his extensive vinyl record collection of around 1,200 pieces, housed in his classic European-style studio in Bintaro, Jakarta. He also shares periodic vlogs on YouTube and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment in `Singapore` after being diagnosed with stage 2 lymphoma cancer.
