About Aeds
Arthrochalasia Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (aEDS) is an ultra-rare inherited connective tissue disorder caused by COL1A1 or COL1A2 gene variants affecting type I collagen. It features severe joint hypermobility, congenital hip dislocations, soft skin, and chronic pain, often requiring multidisciplinary medical care and genetic testing for diagnosis.
In France, AED also refers to assistants d'éducation, school staff supporting students and teachers. They have gained rights to REP/REP+ indemnity since 2023 after SUD education legal action, with retroactive claims possible for prior years. Demonstrations by AED and AESH continue to demand official civil servant status and fair wages.
