SWALLOWED BY THE SURF 🌊: Heavy ocean overwash from a powerful nor'easter has buried and damaged parts of NC Highway 12 on Pea Island, North Carolina. In some areas, floodwaters reached up to 4 feet deep alongside massive drifts of sand. Officials say it’s currently impossible to assess the full extent of the road damage until the water recedes, delaying repair and reopening plans.
