The Neighborhood Talk@theneighborhoodtalk TNHT Staff: @hausofaaron __________________ Neighbors, two weeks after FOX Chicago reported on the conditions inside Yvette Thomas’ apartment building, the 70-year-old says little has changed. The elevator is still not working, the ceiling is still caved in, and the halls still smell like garbage. __________________ Thomas’ situation brought Mayor Brandon Johnson and multiple city departments to the property. At the time, Johnson said, “We are prepared to release the full force of government and hold the landlord accountable and that we provide safe and affordable spaces for Ms. Thomas and other families.” __________________ But Thomas says she is still waiting to see those promises turn into meaningful changes. __________________ She said, “What was the purpose of you stating on live TV that you were going to do all of this?” __________________ Meanwhile, city records show 47 additional violation entries were cited during a September inspection, including missing smoke alarms, pest infestation, electrical and plumbing issues, and building maintenance problems. A separate elevator inspection documented 13 new entries. __________________ There is some good news, though. Catholic Charities helped Thomas find another subsidized apartment in Chicago. However, she still needs $875 for her move-in fee and additional money for moving expenses. @fox32chicago @tiaontv

@njdiva81 How did this apartment even pass inspection? It's no way they should have let her move in. That is a requirement for subsidized housing. Now that they have the mayor involved im sure someone from his team was following this issue through so to let this lady move there is shows no one cares. I hope she gets the help she needs
