GANG MEMBER DENIED PAROLE FOR CARJACKING, VIOLENCE IN PRISON On September 15, 2026, a California parole board issued a 7-year denial of parole for #Visalia man Dexter Rabadan, age 34. Rabadan is currently serving a life sentence at Calipatria State Prison for carjacking. On August 11, 2009, the victim arrived at his friend’s apartment complex and parked his vehicle. At that time, Rabadan and three others approached the victim. Rabadan, holding a knife to the victim’s throat, demanded his keys. Another member of the group held the victim at gunpoint. The victim recognized Rabadan’s voice as the two were acquaintances. Rabadan and the others drove off in the victim’s car but were apprehended at a residence a few days later on August 14. At trial later that year, a Tulare County jury found Rabadan guilty of carjacking and robbery with the special allegations of being associated with a criminal street gang and that a firearm was involved. While being transported to court in Visalia in December 2009, Rabadan attempted to escape custody by punching out the window of a transport vehicle. Deputies were able to subdue Rabadan as he tried to crawl out of the window. In that case, he pleaded no contest to felony escape from custody and was sentenced to two years in state prison. In total, Rabadan was sentenced to 17 years to life in prison in June 2010. While in custody, Rabadan has exhibited a high propensity for violence including fighting, aggression with CDCR staff, and possession of weapons. In 2016, while incarcerated at Pelican Bay State Prison, Rabadan stabbed another inmate multiple times in the prison yard with a manufactured weapon. This was Rabadan’s first parole hearing.
