🌿 Why do we leave our homes and sit in a temporary dwelling, a sukkah, for Sukkot? For seven days, we step out of the comfort and security of our permanent homes and into a sukkah, a temporary dwelling covered with schach. The Torah tells us that we sit in a sukkah to remember how Hashem protected the Jewish people when He took us out of Egypt. There is something incredibly powerful about that. For one week, we leave the security of our permanent homes and remind ourselves that ultimately, our protection and security come from Hashem. A sukkah may be temporary, but The One Above protecting us is constant. ✨ And perhaps that is one of the most beautiful messages of Sukkot, we don’t need everything around us to feel permanent or certain in order to feel secure.
