@travelstamps Spot Light: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 🌴🎡🌊 For the first day of fall, here’s one last look back at a destination we visited this summer. Myrtle Beach has been one of South Carolina’s best known vacation spots for generations. For this trip we stayed at @theelliebeachresort , Tapestry Collection by @hilton , so I saved some of the hotel pieces to add into the scrapbook too. The History Myrtle Beach officially got its name in 1900 after a contest was held to name the growing beach community. The winning name was inspired by the wax myrtle trees that grow along the South Carolina coast. The town was incorporated in 1938 and became a city in 1957. One Myrtle Beach landmark that also made it onto this page is the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove, which first opened in 1946 and has been part of Ocean Boulevard ever since. ⸻ #myrtlebeach #southcarolina #travelstamps #travelscrapbook #traveljournal
