THE CREW OF ’98 — 28 YEARS LATER! Growing Up in the Bay Area During my trip back home to San Francisco, I had the chance to reconnect with some of the friends I grew up with. Back in the day, it was super popular to go to the mall or one of those little photo studios and have pictures taken with your crew. We did exactly that. And here we are, almost 30 years later. It’s funny—at this point in my life, I was already training Kung Fu with a different teacher, and I would come back and show these guys all the moves we had done in class. Seeing my old crew again brought back a lot of memories. Most of us are married now. People have built professional careers, become executives, taken on senior roles, bought homes, raised families, and built lives for themselves. But what makes me happiest isn’t really any of that. It’s that my old crew turned out to be genuinely good human beings. Over the years, I ran with a lot of different groups, and unfortunately, not everyone made it through life okay. But this group of kids who used to hang out together almost 30 years ago grew up, built good lives, and can still sit around a table together, laugh, tell stories, and pick up right where we left off. It was like no time had passed at all. What a great experience! I’m proud of all of them, and grateful that after all these years, we still know each other and can still share good times together. 28 years later. Same crew. A whole lot of life in between. Great breaking bread with you all! Until next time!
