I'm assessing things like: •Oily VS dry skin •Pore size Skin texture •Skin integrity Why it matters: Different skin types retain pigment differently, so need to choose both my pigment and technique accordingly. What I'm thinking: "Will this skin heal soft, lose warmth, or need a different approach?"'.

Skin Skin Thickness Your clients skin actually tells you exactly what it needs! I'm assessing: •Thin or thick skin •Elasticity •Dehydration •Sun damage •Sensitivity Why it matters: These factors influence how pigment implants, heals and fades over time. I'm looking at: •Hair density •Hair depth •Growth pattern The overall harmony between the brows and the face Why it matters: The pigment should complement the client's natural features, not overpower them. What thinking: "How can I I create brows that still look like they belong to this client?"'.

The Desired Healed Result This is the conversation that guides every decision I make. Do they want: •Super soft and natural? •"My brows but better?" •More definition? ·A makeup-inspired finish? Why it matters: The desired result helps me determine everything from my pigment and needle to my machine speed and pressure. I'm choosing my pigment and technique as a whole to achieve the healed result we're aiming for. What I'm thinking: "What do need to do to create the healed result my client is asking for?"'.

One of the most important decisions I make before tattooing a brow is choosing the right pigment. And it’s not based on the colour I see in the bottle or simply matching the client’s brow hair, there is so much more to it! I assess the skin, existing brow hair and the healed result we’re aiming for before deciding what pigment is appropriate. Things like skin undertone, skin type and thickness can all influence how pigment is implanted and how it heals. Natural brow hair and the client’s desired result also help determine the direction I take with pigment selection. The goal isn’t just to make the brows look good immediately after the appointment. The goal is to choose a pigment that is appropriate for that individual client and the healed result we’re working towards. That’s why pigment selection isn’t guesswork!
