[Cabin@The Rise] A special piece of Singapore’s history has found a new home in our Radin Mas Constituency! 🚡 Yesterday evening, during our Radin Mas Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, I joined Mr Buhdy Bok, Managing Director of Mount Faber Leisure Group, and our Radin Mas grassroots leaders to unveil a refurbished second-generation Singapore Cable Car at the Telok Blangah Rise neighbourhood centre. More than a year in the making, I am very happy to finally see this project come to life. The location is fitting. Telok Blangah Rise sits at the foot of Mount Faber, where the Singapore Cable Car began its journey more than 50 years ago. The Singapore Cable Car started operations in 1974, connecting Mount Faber with Sentosa and becoming an iconic part of Singapore’s skyline. This refurbished second-generation cabin is a rare surviving piece of that history. Together with the first- and third-generation heritage cabins at Mount Faber Peak, it tells the story of how the Cable Car has evolved over the decades. Our aim was not only to preserve our heritage, but also to bring greater vibrancy to our neighbourhood and create something residents can enjoy and be proud of. A big thank you to Mount Faber Leisure Group for working with our Radin Mas grassroots organisations to give the cabin a new lease of life, and to Tanjong Pagar Town Council for doing up the site. A special shout-out to our resident, Tang Wai Yin, who designed and created the beautiful mural surrounding the cabin. Bringing together the Cable Car and familiar features of our Radin Mas landscape, the mural adds a special touch to this corner, now known as Cabin@the Rise. My heartfelt thanks to our grassroots leaders, volunteers and everyone involved over the past year. From Mount Faber to Telok Blangah Rise, the Singapore Cable Car has a special connection with our part of Singapore. I am glad we can now preserve a little piece of that history right here in our neighbourhood.
