As an educator with 27 years of experience working with children (primarily middle schoolers) if you want your children to read, give them a comic book! Here’s five reasons why: 1. Comics can increase reading engagement. 2. Comics can strengthen reading comprehension. 3. Comics can build vocabulary and fluency. 4. Comics develop visual-literacy skills. 5. Comics can provide an accessible entry point for reluctant readers.
