Our Planet@this.our.planet New York City is rolling out public toilets with a 10 minute timer. As part of a $4 million pilot program, NYC is installing 17 free modular bathrooms across all five boroughs. They are touchless, ADA accessible and include running water, climate control and baby changing stations. But there is one unusual feature: users get warnings at 5 and 8 minutes, followed by flashing lights and an automatic door opening once the time limit expires. There is also a short buffer after the final warning. The goal is to keep the bathrooms available for more people while also helping staff respond quickly if someone has a medical emergency. @g_2_a_0_r_2_y_6 We have the same thing in Calgary Alberta Canada it's called the exeloo 2000. However they are closed permanently because of constant vandalism and damage.

@tiesofthelost They have these in Calgary and the homeless people still managed to make a huge mess of them and make them unuseable by anyone else. It was a great idea, though to begin with. They just they leave all their trash in there though you know so there’s like needles and whatever else crap you can find.
@thurza_chapman What's taking everyone more than 10 minutes?.. unless you're disabled I don't get it. Go home or use a business if you need more time. Also, what did everyone do before these were put in? Just do that I guess. It's supposed to be a helpful addition to the city.. not your personal bathroom that you can relax in and take your time.
