At just 20 years old, Surendra Singh Choudhry, better known online as Bittu Tabahi, decided he couldn’t stand by and watch his hometown’s river suffer any longer. He began cleaning the heavily polluted Ajnar River in Madhya Pradesh entirely by hand, pulling plastic, garbage, and waste out of its waters and off its banks. What started with a few friends quickly turned into a largely solo mission. For months on end, Bittu has poured his own time, energy, and money into cleaning stretch after stretch of the river. And his incredible before-and-after transformations have now inspired thousands of people online, earning him massive praise for proving that real, meaningful change can start with just one person deciding to act.
