Polymarket@polymarket Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney backed a proposal for Canada to become the EU’s first associate member, saying closer ties with Europe could strengthen the country’s economic independence. The push comes as Ottawa looks to reduce its reliance on the U.S. following President Donald Trump’s tariffs and repeated talk of Canada becoming the 51st state. Traders predict a 7% chance Canada will apply for a full EU membership before 2028.
