Long before founding Parmigiani Fleurier in 1996, Michel Parmigiani dedicated himself to restoring exceptional historic timepieces, automata and mechanical works of art. Through the restoration workshop Mesure et Art du Temps, which he established in 1976, he developed a particularly close relationship with the Sandoz Family Foundation and the Maurice Sandoz Collection – a connection that would later play a defining role in the creation of Parmigiani Fleurier, when Michel Parmigiani and the Sandoz Family Foundation established the Maison in 1996 as a vertically integrated haute horlogerie manufacture. To mark its 30th anniversary, Parmigiani Fleurier is now presenting selected masterpieces from the Maurice Sandoz Collection in Japan for the first time. On display at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT Gallery 3 in Tokyo from 19 to 24 September 2026, the exhibition brings together historic objects restored by Michel Parmigiani and preserved by the Fondation Édouard et Maurice Sandoz (FEMS), thereby highlighting the historical link between the Maurice Sandoz Collection, Michel Parmigiani’s restoration work and the origins of the Maison.
